Web App Content Design

Objective

Brands partner with TerraCycle to create recycling programs for their products and packaging. Through a new product—TerraCycle On-Demand—the company sought to offer a budget-friendly, do-it-yourself recycling program to small and medium businesses.

But recycling can be confusing, and this was an unprecedented product. The team needed to build a user experience that would keep customers confident throughout the program creation process.

Contributions

  • Led product naming (and narrowed down options through a company-wide survey)
  • Wrote all UX copy, including empty states, tooltips, and conversion flows
  • Aligned copy with TerraCycle voice and style, and created separate style guidelines for wording specific to On-Demand
  • Created FAQs for TerraCycle Help Center and marketing copy for product launch
  • Presented copy to upper-level management, including the CEO, and integrated feedback
  • As part of the product testing team, reported bugs and points of friction in the journey

I worked closely with the UX design team, graphic designers, innovation division, and company leadership throughout the process.

Result

TerraCycle On-Demand launched to great success, converting nearly 100% of existing small-program customers.
